After a couple of months, I was finally back at Yabu: The House of Katsu :) This time I was with my friend, Kenny, and her special someone. It's been months since we've seen each other personally and Yabu was just perfect for our mini-reunion.
Yabu has gone through some changes since my last visit. The place is now bigger and new items were added on the menu. :) Of course, I was excited to see their testimonial wall, which features raves about Yabu from bloggers and other media (I think politicians might learn a thing or two from Yabu. :P)
Appetizers
We ordered a set of appetizers, Superior Potato & Egg Salad, and Hiyayakko Tofu (2 appetizers for Php 195).
Superior Potato & Egg Salad |
Hiyayakko Tofu |
Superior Potato & Egg Salad is a mixture of potato and egg with mayonnaise-mustard dressing. Hiyayakko Tofu is cold silken tofu with ponzu sauce and bonito flakes. The saltiness of the bonito flakes goes well with the tofu, I liked the Superior Potato & Egg Salad a lot. It's really good! :)
Katsu Sets
This is kinda childish, but I really enjoy grinding the sesame seeds. Unlike my previous visit, the staff taught us how to properly grind the sesame seeds and how many scoops of katsu sauce should we pour. Superb!
I ordered Hire and Seafood Katsu Set (Php 475) while my friend had the Chicken Katsu Set (180g, Php 360). Each katsu set is served with unlimited Japanese rice, unlimited cabbage, miso soup, Japanese pickles, and a bowl of fruit.
Hire and Seafood Katsu Set |
Hire and Seafood Katsu Set has Hire, Black Tiger Prawn, Cream Dory, Scallop, Eggplant, and Pepper. I'm not much into seafood, but I fell in love with seafood katsu. If I'll ever eat seafood again, I'd definitely want my seafood "katsu-ed".
Chicken Katsu Set |
Chicken Katsu is a 3/4 inch thick chicken breast fillet cooked to perfection. My friend found the chicken really, really tender.
We really loved our katsu that we finished it in no time.
After our dinner, I had to see Yabu's testimonial wall.
Yabu's Testimonial Wall |
Why? Because of this:
We've finally met!!! :) |
Yes! We finally meet! :) Thanks a lot, Richie for letting me know about this a few months before. :) and thanks to you, Yabu!
I'd always go back to Yabu for their delicious katsu and excellent service. Keep it up, Yabu. I can't wait to go back with my friends.

DeleteOO nga bloggers have a lot of pull from the young market these days. Sino bang lumalabas madalas diba? Even the techy adults are reading blogs. Did TS really say yung phrase "blogger lang naman sya?" tsk tsk

You might want to visit their newest branch at Robinson's Magnolia instead. :) Re: the phrase, I'm not sure. But I just don't like people treating bloggers rudely.
